The new correctional policy
The Justice Ministry plans to rationalize prison space and allocate prisoners according to severity of sentences, type of crime, sex and age. It aims to: * Establish controlled freedom, so inmates are not cut off irretrievably from society; * Recognize the inalienable constitutional rights of prisoners and offer them special protection; * Ensure work for all and include working prisoners and their families in the social insurance system; * Completely reform the role of prison employees; * Link employers’ organizations and programs to rehabilitate released prisoners; and * Enlighten public opinion.
