Independent MP Haris Theoharis joins ND opposition’s ranks
Independent MP Haris Theoharis joined New Democracy on Tuesday, increasing the party’s presence in the 300-seat Parliament to 78 seats.
Theoharis, who was the Finance Ministry’s general secretary for public revenues in 2013 and 2014, was elected with centrist To Potami in 2015 and became an independent in 2016.
After meeting ND leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis, he said, “It’s time to close the chapter of the crisis… and get on the path of stability and growth.”
“This is an objective demanding broader consensus, a strategic plan and managerial efficiency,” he added.
“We are forming a large, pro-European and reformist front to kick-start the economy, to move Greece forward at last,” Mitsotakis said.
