Hania supermarket ATM blasted open by thieves

Police on Crete are seeking the perpetrators behind a blast targeting a bank ATM outside a supermarket in the seaside village of Maleme, near the port of Hania, late on Friday.

The assailants used a homemade explosive device to blow open the machine before making off with an unknown sum of cash.

The blast caused damage to the facade and interior of the supermarket but no injuries as there had been no one there at the time.
