Coast guard bans unauthorized chants from parade

The Hellenic Coast Guard and port authorities have forbidden the chanting of slogans other than approved military songs by officers during Monday’s parades marking the March 25 national holiday that commemorates the launch of the Greek struggle for independence from the Ottoman Turks in 1821.

According to a statement by the coast guard on Friday, the prohibition is within the spirit of its rules.
