The Virgin and Child…
This icon from the late 1250s, a triptych depicting the Virgin and Child, is one of 41 masterpieces that make up the exhibition ‘Worship at Sinai: Treasures from the Holy Monastery of Saint Catherine’ that President Costis Stephanopoulos inaugurated at the Benaki Museum last night. The exhibition was part of the Metropolitan Museum of New York’s ‘Byzantium: Faith and Power 1261-1557’ exhibition. It will run in Athens until September 26.
