WWII hand grenade found in abandoned Exarchia building

A hand grenade dating from the Second World War was found Thursday during maintenance work inside an abandoned building in the downtown Athens district of Exarchia.

The device was discovered by a worker who alerted the authorities.

A team of army bomb disposal experts removed it from the area.
