Kostas Vlasis appointed Deputy Foreign Minister
New Democracy MP Kostas Vlasis is to become new Deputy Foreign Minister for Greeks abroad, replacing Antonis Diamataris who resigned last week after it was revealed he had falsely claimed in his CV to have earned a masters degree in business administration from Columbia University.
Vlasis, a 44-year-old ND MP for Arcadia in the Peloponnese, is to be sworn in to his new role on Monday following an announcement over the weekend by government spokesman Stelios Petsas of the decision by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for Diamataris' replacement.
Qualified as an orthopedic surgeon following his studies at the Athens University Medical School, Vlasis has served as secretary of ND's parliamentary group during his political career and has been party spokesman during several House debates.
