Police probing exchange of fire in Athens district
Authorities on Tuesday were investigating a shooting incident that took place in a parking lot in the western Athens district of Haidari shortly after midnight on Monday.
Officers who arrived at the scene of the shooting on the corner of Iera Odos and Kanari Street found about 20 bullet casings that had been fired from a 45 mm and a 9 mm handgun.
An elderly man, thought to have been homeless, who had been sleeping in a car in a nearby park escaped unharmed although the vehicle was riddled with bullets.
Authorities have not determined precisely what happened and are examining footage from CCTV cameras to establish the identity of the suspects.
