Culture Ministry employees…
Striking Culture Ministry employees protest in central Athens yesterday, to demand that the government abandons plans to sack thousands of ministry contract workers. Riot police used tear gas on the protesters, who were finally granted an audience with Deputy Culture Minister Petros Tatoulis. A new protest will be held outside the ministry at 10 a.m. today. Yesterday’s strike caused the closure of several major archaeological sites.
