Flowers rest…

Flowers rest yesterday on the memorial to the pro-democracy protesters killed by police and army troops during the November 17, 1973 Polytechnic uprising. Three days of commemorations at the Patission Street Polytechnic complex (now officially the National Technical University of Athens) culminate tomorrow evening with a protest march to the US Embassy in Athens. Some 6,000 police will be on duty, as the protest often degenerates into rioting by self-styled anarchists.
