Last farewell to Kazantzidis
Thousands of people attended the funeral on Saturday of popular singing legend Stelios Kazantzidis, who died on Friday at the age of 70 after a long battle with cancer. The funeral in Elefsina, southwest of Athens, drew fans from as far away as Germany, South Africa and Canada. He is survived by his wife Vasso. Present at the funeral were dozens of popular Greek singers. Culture Minister Evangelos Venizelos represented the government. The islet was chosen for its strategic advantage at the southernmost point of the European continent and its position at the intersection of the tectonic plates of Europe and Africa.
