Suspect sought over dumped headless body
A Russian Thessaloniki resident is being sought on suspicion of having murdered a pregnant woman whose decapitated, handless corpse was discovered eight days ago at a rubbish dump in northern Greece. According to Thessaloniki police sources quoted by the Athens News Agency yesterday, the 30-year-old man, whose name was not revealed, is believed to have been having an affair with the victim – whose identity was not made public either. But the sources said she was eight months pregnant. The 25-year-old woman’s mutilated body was discovered by scavengers, who contacted the police, in a landfill at Korinos, some 10 kilometers north of Katerini. A coroner found that she had died two days earlier at another location. Officers discovered the woman’s severed head and hands in two bags and a cardboard box.
