Kolokotronis statue restored
The statue of Theodoros Kolokotronis, hero of the 1821 War of Independence, was presented to Athenians again yesterday after months spent shrouded in scaffolding and being cleaned by workers. It stands outside the Old Parliament on Stadiou Street, central Athens. Verelis said that new buses and bus lanes to be introduced by 2003 should increase the average speed on the city’s roads from the current 10-12.5 kilometers per hour to 45 kilometers per hour.
