A protester shouts into his megaphone…

A protester shouts into his megaphone between two riot police officers during a rally in Korai Square in central Athens yesterday, organized by the main Civil Servants’ Union ADEDY. Public services were severely disrupted as civil servants went on a 24-hour strike demanding a minimum wage of 1,200 euros, improved social security benefits for hazardous professions and collective labor contracts. Dozens of flights were also canceled or rescheduled at airports across the country yesterday as air-traffic controllers joined in the strike by staging a four-hour work stoppage. At Athens International Airport alone, more than 40 flights were canceled.
