The sun beats down…
The sun beats down on beachgoers in the southern Athenian suburb of Kavouri, as they look to escape the scorching conditions in the capital. The temperature reached a high of 38C (100F) in the city yesterday but is expected to rise even further today, climbing to 40C (104F). Authorities have warned the elderly, especially those with health problems, as well as the very young to avoid going out in the sun. Conditions are expected to start cooling off after tomorrow.
