Food at risk

Athens prefectural inspectors seized 373 kilos of damaged food destined for patients at the Alexandra General Hospital this week. Inspectors checked a refrigerated truck that arrived at the hospital to deliver frozen food. According to the report, the truck’s refrigeration equipment was not working, putting the food at risk. Temperatures inside the truck were from 5 to 8 degrees above those recommended for transporting frozen food. This was the second such case discovered in the past 10 days by Athens prefectural authorities inspecting food storage conditions at Athens hospitals. The first was at Euromedical, where food and medicines were kept in the same area under unsuitable conditions.
