Work is almost finished on a presidential decree designating the archipelago of the Northern Sporades, home to the rare Mediterranean seal, as a national park, Deputy Environment Minister Rodoula Zisi announced this week. She added that the draft decree had already been sent to the Magnisia prefecture to be debated by the parties involved before the decree is finalized. The Northern Sporades is unique both for its natural environment and its history of human settlement both in Greece and in the Mediterranean region. It has been recommended for inclusion in the Natura 2000 network. These findings were reported at a one-day conference, «Consumers and the truth about animal food products» on Thursday, organized by the university’s animal products department.
