A few things not to miss out on when visiting

– The Archaeological Museum in Ioulida. – Karthaia, the most important of ancient Kea’s four cities. The route, combining asphalt, dirt road and then a hike, is worth the effort. – The enamel factory in Korrisia, the only Greek enamelware factory, open 1927-1957. – Mylopotamos for its famous watermills. – The Lion, carved into a rock during antiquity, is about one-and-a-half kilometers from Ioulida. – The local pasteli sweet made from local honey, whole almonds and capers, which you can buy at the Aristaios (tel 22880.21.345) on the road from Korrisia to Ioulida. Also ask for the local wine known as «Mavroudi.» – A country walk. Get a a detailed map of the hiking trails from the municipal information center in the port. – The stories of Father Lefteris at the Kastriani Monastery, especially the ones about the tsambouna. – The beaches, which include cosmopolitan Yialiskari, the gulf of Otzia and Koundouros to Xyla, and quiet Sykamia.
