A beach volleyball player serves the ball during the first day of the FIVB World Tour 2005 Athens Open at the Olympic beach volleyball stadium in Faliron yesterday. Fans of sport have until Sunday to catch some action on the sand and see Greece’s European champions Vasso Karantasiou and Vicki Arvaniti compete. Competition starts early in the day and ends at midnight. Organizers have also scheduled two beach parties on the weekend as the event wraps up. Yesterday, Greek pair Foteini Tsantopoulou and Georgia Terzoglou got through the preliminary round.
