Tourist braves the wet weather…

A lone tourist braves the wet weather to walk through the Ancient Agora in central Athens yesterday. Rainstorms hit several parts of the country throughout the day, causing flooding in the regions of Attica and Evia. Authorities in Halkida received more than 100 calls for help from people whose homes had flooded. Fifteen rescue teams worked into the evening to pump water out of the houses. The recent spell of sunny weather in Athens also ended after rain pounded the capital and brought traffic to a halt. Conditions are expected to improve today.
