The sun’s partial eclipse…
The sun’s partial eclipse by the moon was somewhat visible from Athens (photo) yesterday morning between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The annular eclipse was clearest for Athenians at around noon. However, those who had the best view of the event were in countries along a geographical strip that includes Spain and Portugal, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, parts of Chad, Sudan and Ethiopia as well as Kenya and Somalia. People in Madrid were among the first to witness the eclipse, during which the sun was obscured for four minutes shortly before 9 a.m. The Spanish capital is located in the center of the strip which offered the best views of the phenomenon.
