US working to solve fuel supply problem
The US Embassy is working with the Greek government to achieve an agreement whereby it will continue to be supplied with clear marine fuel for the Sixth Fleet rather than the black-dyed, tax-free fuel used to supply ships. «We continue to hold friendly discussions with the government of Greece regarding the fulfillment of the contract between the US Defense Energy Support Center and Aegean Marine Petroleum SA for the provision of marine diesel fuel. This contract has provided undyed marine diesel fuel for the past two years, meeting the technical requirements of our ships,» the embassy said. «The implication of press reports that this kind of communication between any embassy and any ministry of finance is inappropriate or unusual is just wrong,» it said.
