Workers in hard hats…

Workers in hard hats walk down a stretch of the Athens metro currently being built that will link Monastiraki station in central Athens with Aegaleo in the capital’s west. The 4.65-kilometer extension to the underground train line will include three new stations – Votanikos, Eleona and Aegaleo. Commuters will be able to travel from Aegaleo to Syntagma in the city center in six minutes as of fall of 2007, Public Works Minister Giorgos Souflias said yesterday. Authorities said that the discovery of archaeological finds has slowed work at the end of the line.
