The pupils’ proposals

– The wetland must be listed immediately as a protected area and fenced off. – A scientific study should be conducted and the area remain under constant observation by experts. – Regular updates and information for local residents about the importance of the wetland (one idea was to create an information center for the wetland). – The Asopos wetland must no longer be a toxic swamp for Oropos and a source of sea pollution. * The wetland must be cleared of trash and rubble, and illegal constructions be removed where possible. – Environmental walking trails should be created and bird observatories built at selected points in the wetland. – Warning signs should be posted and trash cans installed. – The army camp at the Asopos Delta could undertake the task of guarding the wetland from land grabbers and illegal hunters.
