Greek weightlifter Pyrros Dimas…

Greek weightlifter Pyrros Dimas (r) lights an altar at Ancient Dion, northern Greece, yesterday as part of the torch relay for the Turin 2006 Winter Olympics. Dimas is a three-time Olympic gold medalist and won the bronze at the Athens Olympics last year. The flame will arrive in Athens tomorrow and then travel to Rome on Thursday. It will be taken around Italy for 64 days, covering a total distance of 11,300 km, visiting 140 cities, 107 provinces and all of Italy’s regions, as well as the neighboring countries of Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland and France. There will be 10,001 torchbearers, who will carry the flame to Turin, where it will arrive on February 10, 2006, for the start of the Games.
