Residents in the area of Kamatero…
Residents in the area of Kamatero, western Athens, yesterday began cleaning up the mess left behind by storms that hit the area on Wednesday night. Heavy rainfall swept away the pedestrian bridge and front balconies of homes (photo). Rescue workers received 93 calls for help from flooded residences, mainly in northern and western parts of the city, while roads in southern Athens were also blocked off. Flooding rivers in Preveza and Arta in northwestern Greece also created problems for nearby villages. Conditions are expected to improve by Saturday afternoon.
