Acres of land were turned into lakes in Kavala, northern Greece, after heavy rainfall swamped the area yesterday. Rescue teams received tens of calls of help from residents whose homes had flooded, while some roads in the area were cut off due to flood waters. Further east, the rising water levels of the Evros River stabilized after moving continually higher over the last few days, but posed no flood risk to the area, according to authorities.
