Rejected ex-boyfriend kills his former lover
A 25-year-old woman was allegedly shot dead by her ex-boyfriend in Ilion, northwestern Athens, yesterday in what police described as being a crime of passion. The accused murderer, Ilias Alexandropoulos, aged 41, allegedly shot Athina Parthenis, at about 1 a.m. on Sunday morning as she was helping her father close a street-side kiosk for the night. The victim’s father wrestled with Alexandropoulos after he shot the woman once in the heart with a hunting rifle, but the latter managed to get away on foot leaving behind his gun and car. A few hours later, Alexandropoulos turned himself in to authorities. Police said that Parthenis had ended a relationship between the two some six months ago but Alexandropoulos had insisted that they get back together and had also threatened the woman.
