Yiossakis not going quietly

Former priest Iakovos Yiossakis, alleged to be at the center of a trial-fixing ring, yesterday filed a lawsuit against judicial authorities claiming that three other people, including the wife of a deputy minister should also be investigated. Investigating magistrate Yiannis Sideris yesterday granted Yiossakis a third extension before he testifies about his role in the alleged ring, which is said to involve judges and lawyers. Yiossakis’s lawyer claimed his client had not yet received all of the 20,000-page case file. He is due to appear before Sideris on Monday morning. Yiossakis has increasingly been giving the impression that he intends to implicate a number of people and called for the actions of two lawyers and another individual to be investigated and charges to be filed against them as well. One of the lawyers is Christina Valinaki, the wife of Deputy Foreign Minister Yiannis Valinakis. Yiossakis alleged that Valinaki acted as a lawyer in a case presided over by former judge Antonia Ilia, who has been charged with accepting bribes. Valinaki said she would testify if summoned.
