Increase in toll charges…
Motorists drive across the Rio-Antirio Bridge yesterday. The world’s longest cable-stayed bridge links the Peloponnese with western Greece, and tolls for cars passing over it will rise from 10 to 10.50 euros from Monday. Synaspismos Left Coalition Deputy Panayiotis Lafazanis criticized the government yesterday for allowing an increase in toll charges on the Attiki Odos highway and the Rio-Antirio Bridge, which he said act as a daily tax in favor of private companies. The extra cost on Attiki Odos will apply from February 1, when drivers will have to pay 2.70 euros as opposed to the current 2.50 for each journey.
