Hunt is on for third suspect in bank raids

Police are looking for a third man in connection with a series of armed bank robberies that resulted in more than 300,000 euros being stolen, and which left one thief dead and another in police custody this week, officers said yesterday. Constantinos Komesidis was killed after a botched raid at a branch of Alpha Bank on Acharnon Street on Monday. He was accidentally shot by his accomplice Nikiforos Selemetzidis. Officers said yesterday that after questioning Selemetzidis they believe the pair, along with a third suspect, who was not named, have committed at least 11 armed robberies this year, with a total haul of some 315,000 euros. The raids were all on banks in Attica and only two of the three suspects would be involved in each robbery.
