Greece is going to the Devil, according to an expert on the supernatural. In a fiery sermon in the northern Athens suburb of Halandri yesterday, the head of the Church of Greece told congregation members it was time to repent of their sins. «We break the law of God on a daily basis, and that is why we are going to the devil,» Archbishop Christodoulos said. «And nobody knows where we will stop… We must come to our senses… for otherwise our society and our people will collapse.» Later, during his monthly program on the Church of Greece radio station, he returned to the subject. «There is no doubt that we are going through a period of great and acute spiritual crisis… a period of spiritual decay that is threatening to take over our country and perhaps all of Europe too.» He denounced gambling and the stock exchange for «having led a lot of people to lose fortunes.» «Corruption rules the public and the private sector,» he added.
