Schoolgirls from Thessaloniki parade through the city on Saturday as part of events to mark Greek Independence Day. Celebrations were marred by a clash between members of extreme right-wing group Chryssi Avgi and students protesting the parade. Three students suffered minor knife injuries during the scuffle. Some 300 sacked workers from a local fertilizer plant also protested at the end of the parade.
