Bank workers used whistles…

Bank workers used whistles, blocks of wood and whatever else they could get their hands on yesterday to protest against changes to their pension rights outside of Parliament in central Athens. OTOE, the Federation of Bank Employees Unions, had called a 24-hour strike yesterday in protest at the pension overhaul, which mostly affected state-run banks. The government has said that it will push ahead with its reforms, while OTOE is scheduled to meet today to decide on its next action. The strike is the latest round in a broader confrontation between union groups and the conservative government.
