A young boy holds up a banner as he takes part yesterday in a demonstration outside the presidential palace in the Cypriot capital, Nicosia. Some 150 immigrants held a peaceful protest to demand that asylum seekers be allowed to work and the release of a group of migrants who have been held in custody for several months as they wait for authorities to arrange their deportation. Some 60 migrants set fire to their jail cells in Nicosia last week to protest their detainment.
