Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis told journalists yesterday that she welcomed the decision by the Turkish military to postpone an exercise in the Aegean which would have coincided with her visit to Istanbul this weekend. The exercise will instead take place between June 17 and 24. Bakoyannis said the postponement was a ‘positive message.’ She is due to hold talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul in Istanbul on Saturday. Defense Minister Evangelos Meimarakis also applauded Ankara’s decision.
