Mom says son in on Alex case

The mother of one of the children suspected of being involved in the disappearance of Alex Meshivili confessed yesterday that her son took part in the death of the 11-year-old boy in Veria in northern Greece. The woman, whose identity has not been revealed, told a television station that her son was one of the five boys who had been chasing Alex when he fell and hit his head on steps. Rather than taking him to a hospital, the five boys panicked. They abandoned the unconscious child at a nearby house that was being demolished, she said. But Alex’s body has not been found, raising suspicions among police that an adult was also involved in the incident and had disposed of the boy’s corpse. The woman also said that she told Alex’s mother the truth and apologized for her son’s actions. The five boys had originally confessed to the crime but have since retracted their confessions. A team of psychologists is currently examining the children.
