Accusation of treachery a lasting stigma for family

Parthena Apostoliadi from the village of Vitezovo in Krasnodar lives in Thessaloniki now. She never met her father because he was sent into exile in Siberia in 1938, when she was just one month old. But she still recalls the social stigma that her family suffered because her father had been branded a traitor. «As a small child, I started looking for his grave so I could put some flowers on it but none of the authorities I approached would give me any information about it. «It was not until 1956 that I found out that he had died in Siberia, though even then they would not give me any further details.»
