Soldiers search…
Soldiers search for landmines near the town of Soufli, close to the Turkish border, yesterday. Two suspected immigrants were killed after entering a minefield in the region earlier yesterday. The army has pledged that Greece’s heavily militarized border region will be clear of land mines by 2010, four years ahead of an international treaty deadline. There are believed to be hundreds of thousands of anti-personnel mines in the region.
