Men held for deadly road rage

A Cypriot court remanded four British tourists in custody on Saturday for their alleged involvement in a revenge road attack that killed a local teenager and injured two more people, police said. Police said the four men are believed to have been in a rented car that allegedly repeatedly hit and intentionally knocked over a motorbike near the seaside Ayia Napa resort early on Friday. The bike’s 17-year-old passenger died while the 18-year-old driver, also a Cypriot, was severely injured. Shortly afterward, the suspects’ car is believed to have struck a second motorbike, lightly injuring its British driver, police said. The suspects – identified as Julian Harnington, 39, James Goodwill, 22, Michael Binnington, 21, and Luke Atkinson, 22 – were remanded for eight days pending a police investigation. The tourists are being investigated for murder, conspiracy to murder and attempted murder, police said. Police said the alleged attack followed a fight outside a night club at Protaras, near Ayia Napa, in which a British national was injured. (AP)
