The new technology…

The chief of police, Anastassios Dimoschakis (right), inspects the new technology being used to issue Greek passports. As of last Saturday, the travel documents now carry a microchip and these will be able to carry a fingerprint scan from June, 2009, police said yesterday. The chip contained in each new passport will be ‘locked’ once the new data have been entered, police added. The move brings Greece in line with EU guidelines on travel documents.
