Culture Minister Giorgos Voulgarakis looks at an artifact which the Getty Museum in Los Angeles returned to Greece yesterday. The stele, which dates to 500 BC, and a 490 BC marble votive relief had been illegally smuggled out of the country. After a decade-long dispute, the Getty returned the two antiquities to Greece. Voulgarakis says Greece will seek the return of other illegally removed artifacts held by foreign institutions and collectors. He will soon fly to Germany to take back a piece of marble from the Parthenon now at the University of Heidelberg.
