Concern for minors over cell phone porn

A consumer group yesterday expressed concern about children’s easy access to pornography through their mobile telephones, which have saturated the youth market, and called for measures to regulate the problem. Children are being bombarded with advertisements for downloading images and videos by simply sending a text message from their mobile phones, the Hellenic Consumer Organization (EKATO) complained a day after three students were charged with recording the rape of an 18-year-old woman on their mobile phones and posting the video on the Internet. Adverts for downloading pornographic images do not even carry an «adults only» warning, EKATO remarked. According to figures released by the Athens University of Economics and Business, 74 percent of children aged 12-14 own a mobile phone and 96.4 percent of 15-18-year-olds.
