International drug ring busted at airport
Police said on Saturday they arrested a Lithuanian woman, aged 25, along with two male accomplices after she had allegedly tried to smuggle into Greece 1.7 kilos of heroin in what authorities believe to be an international drug-smuggling operation. The woman, traveling from Brazil via Frankfurt, was found to have hidden the heroin in her suitcase when she arrived in Athens. After arriving at the airport, she is said to have met up with a Greek man who was expected to help her transport the narcotics to a suspected drug dealer, a Nigerian national. Both men, aged 49 and 30, were arrested. Police said that after an inspection of the Nigerian man’s home, they found another suitcase that had panels designed to hide drugs.
