Riot police push back striking pre-school and primary school teachers at a rally in front of Parliament, central Athens, yesterday. The teachers announced that they will continue their strike action, which started on September 18, until the end of the week as they push ahead with demands for higher pay. They will be joined today by the Federation of Secondary School Teachers (OLME) in a protest gathering scheduled to take place outside the Education Ministry at 11.30 a.m. OLME has called two, three-hour work stoppages for today.
