Heroin-trading ring broken in Trikala

Three Greek men believed to be members of a major drug-trafficking ring have been arrested after a series of police operations in different parts of the country led to the seizure of 7.5 kilos of heroin, officers said yesterday. The first suspected ring member was arrested in Trikala in central Greece on Saturday, allegedly in the act of handing over drugs to an addict. The second suspect was caught on an island in the Dodecanese on Tuesday and the third was arrested shortly afterward in Trikala. Police subsequently traced two bank accounts, both belonging to foreigners living in Athens, which they believe have been used to launder the proceeds of the alleged traffickers. One of the two account holders, currently serving time in a Greek jail, is believed to be the leader of the alleged ring.
