Courier vehicle robbers busted
Two people were arrested in Athens for allegedly being part of an organized ring that robbed couriers of some 200,000 euros over the last two years, police said on Saturday. The suspects allegedly monitored the couriers as they arrived at an address, waited until they entered the building to make a delivery and then stole items from their vans and motorcycles. The two suspects, a 38-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man, were accused of 46 counts of theft, police said. The items stolen usually included cash or checks they would later cash at banks. Police are continuing their investigation to catch the other members of the ring. Couriers have reported more than 500 counts of theft recently in the broader Attica region.
