Greece’s most photogenic destinations are the settings for many of the dramas and situation comedies of the season. The images both promote Greece as a still-idyllic place to be and encourage locals to visit the places now deified by the small screen. Director Manoussos Manoussakis (above left, center) checks out locations in Hania on the island of Crete for yet another take on his tried-and-true formula, dramas which pit two star-crossed lovers against the cruel world. Below right: The crew sets up a sound stage in a street on the picturesque island of Symi. Many of the series are little more than escapist tales that have no connection to the beauty and harshness of modern life.
