PM Costas Simitis points the new Acropolis Museum…

PM Costas Simitis (2nd l) points to the site of the new Acropolis Museum on a visit yesterday to the ancient citadel, during which he was briefed on the ongoing restoration program for the Acropolis monuments. Today, the Culture Ministry is expected to approve preliminary plans by Bernard Tschumi and Michalis Photiadis for the 94-million-euro museum, which is scheduled for completion before the 2004 Olympics. Initial work on the glass and concrete building’s foundations will start in May.
