EU Environment Commissioner…

EU Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas gestures during a press conference in Brussels yesterday as he presents plans to limit CO2 emissions from new cars after weeks of delays due to divisions over how much the car industry should sacrifice for cleaner air. The EU executive body’s plan foresees the drafting of lower emissions limits (a cut of 18 percent or 130 grams of CO2 per kilometer from current emission levels) for new cars sold in or imported into the EU by 2012.
